The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has announced that the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) has made the 2025 Risk Evaluation Questionnaire (REQ) available on the Compliance and Supervision Platform for Assessing Risk (CASPAR) portal, effective from 3rd March 2025.
Gaming operators are required to submit their completed REQs by 10th April 2025. To facilitate this process, the FIAU has provided both Excel and PDF versions of the questionnaire for preliminary information gathering; however, official submissions must be made exclusively through the CASPAR portal.
Failure to meet the 10th April deadline may result in breaches of Regulation 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR) and Sections 5.12 of the Implementing Procedures, potentially leading to istrative penalties under Regulation 21 of the PMLFTR.
Operators are advised to ensure their CASPAR profiles are current, including details such as ownership information, financial data, target markets, and a comprehensive Business Risk Assessment. Those who did not engage in ‘relevant activity’ or ‘relevant financial business’ during the review year may seek an exemption by ing the FIAU via email at [email protected] before the submission deadline.
For comprehensive information on the 2025 REQ process, MGA licensees are encouraged to visit the official MGA website.
